Can anyone tell me how to change the bulb in the high brakelight on a fleetwood caravan, the lens is sealed with mastic and I can't see anything in the lockers at the back of the van, this looks a bit tricky to me.
i read the other day that the lens just lifted out.ring your local dealer workshop or where you get the service done and they will tell you over the phone.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I managed to remove the high level brake light on my Fleetwood. The bulbs (not LEDs) were OK but there was water in the fitting and I was worried about Damp.
The lens is indeed glued onto the fitting, but after unscrewing the retaining screws, I used a flat bladed knife to cut through the silicone sealer between the fitting and the caravan body. (Why Fleetwod didn't use Mastic I don't know). The whole unit then came out of the recess and I was able to disconnect the cable. The back of the fitting can then be unscrewed to gain access to the bulbs, and to dry any damp!
Top marks to Fleetwood for also sealing the light recess including a gromit for the cable, so I needn't have worried about the damp going any further than the light fitting. After some thorough cleaning, I placed some extra sealer around the lens/fitting join and then some roll mastic between the fitting and the caravan body and screwed the fitting home. Job done!
