Can anyone help please??? My 1994 Eccles Diamond has a roof rail running across the width of the van. On one side of the rail only, the roof is flaking away from the rail towards the back of the van, revealing a spongy peachy coloured substance (insulation?).

The user handbook states that the caravan has a "part bonded construction roof."

I've done a search on this site and looked at the Fixed It Club sites but cannot find anyone having a similar problem. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this, and if so, do you know the cause of the problem, and how did you fix it?

sounds like and i hope i am wrong, damp has got into the roof area and is rotting the thin alloy on top. possibly the rail could be leaking.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Is it possible that a whole piece of trim is missing?

Shame no one has a photo of the roof of your caravan when it was new.  Also doesn't help that we don't know what type of roof you have.
