My son has just brought  a swift 460se '04 as his firdt van.I t is the type with the "L" shaped lounge. His first jaunt was to norfolk over the easter wk/end.It snowed heavily(7" in total). On the 2nd day,he noticed that the cushions and bottom part of the curtain were wet in corner of the "L".The windows had not been opened due to bad weather but the exractor fan had been on to combat condensation. No water was apparent on wall/windows and no obvious cause seen. The van has been on my driveway since return under "observation" but despite recent wet weather,no re-occurance of this problem.Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

Hi Chandler , welcome to UKCS , this does sound like condensation , but it depends on how wet it was , if it was soaking then it may need further investigation .
I would move the cushions indoors to fully dry out and give the van a good airing on a warm day .
As Michael says it would be a good idea to buy a damp meter and check the area , make sure the probe tips are needle sharp as they need to penetrate the wall board covering to get a damp reading .
The wallboard should also feel hard to the finger , any softness would mean possible damp beneath .

do not use the meter on window rubbers as you will always get a reading.

Michael i am glad you raised this point, when i first started caravanning i bought a second hand caravan to see if me and the wife liked it, i bought it private and it came with some bits and bobs was dry and in good condition, did three trips and evereything was ok, so decided to go more upmarket and bought a van from a dealer, price for the PX was agreed without the dealer seeing the van, so they send a bloke out to check the van over and he brought a damp meter with him, i had never seen one before, so he went all over the van and found nothing wrong until he got to the front of the van, he put the prongs on the front window rubber and said odear we have a problem it,s damp under the window,it will cost so much to repair this we will have to knock £150 of the PX, so i thought well he must know what he,s doing so agreed, went to dealers about three weeks later for some bits, my old van up for sale £500 mark up never been touched inside, so learned the hard way, never shopped there again.
