Well took the caravan out for it's first outing this weekend (bought it last november adria optima 400b) on my last post i was asking about the water heater for the shower. Well good job i did'nt want to use the shower ,the water pump is naffed. Think it's a carver one well it says that on the flap at the side where it was all curled up inside.............. got the hose out went to put it in the frash water container ,and the filter (think thats what it is called ?the cylinder that goes into the water) has snapped ........still connected to the wire, but it has snapped where the water pumps in throught the hole.Do i have to buy the whole lot or can you just fit a new filter.Think i would have to cut wires to fit a new filter ,don't think it's one of those modern ones that just plug in ,looks like it is all wired into the caravan.Any suggestions please ...... before i take it to the caravan repair place

Hi Mysty g , the bit you think is the filter sounds like the water pump to me , the wires going to it are to supply the power to turn the pump .
Have a look here http://www.waudbys.co.uk/products/water_pumps.html and see if you can see anything like yours .

Thanks wizard   .......doh stupid me yes it is the pump bit.

I have looked on loads of sites for pumps ....but nothing looks like the one i have got . Maybe it's the original pump that came with the van ...who knows .

Anyway it looks similar to all the ones advertised ........ie long blue flat hose ...... but the pump looks different . and it has a bigger blue flange  on it .....plus it does not look as if it is a plug in type .....more like it is wired into the van itself....... maybe it's because it's a foreign make ..........also  when the pump switch was put in the on position  in the caravan .......there was no noise coming from it like you get when the water barrel is empty..........but then again my other caravan was a foot operated one so maybe they don't sound the same......sorry if it all sounds double dutch to you............i am not very tecno minded

the pump on your van is the old type thames pump. if you look into the housing where you store you pump you will see a white plug held in with 3 screws where the hose meets with the housing. release the screws and you can remove the plug from the housing release the 2 wires then all you need to do is buy a new truma maxi pump put you existing hose to it fit the plug of your original and refit back in situ.
