My daughter is off for the weekend dog agility.no ehu so is going to run the fridge on gas.doesnt want soft chocolate.how safe is it. she has a carbon monoxide alarm new just fitted .fridge hasnt been used by us before on gas.
The truth is even if the tiny fridge flame was producing as much CO as it could, the total would still be to small to do any harm unless you stood over it breathing direct from the flue!!
If it was at all dangerous it would not be allowed to vent into the awning space
Make sure the flame when lit is burning bright blue in the viewing window and you will be fine. However a strong smell of fumes outside will point to it needing a service.
Hi Neil, been using gas fridge in the van for years without problem, ours only works on gas on site or 12v when towing. As said above just make sure the vents are clear, the actual flame is not much bigger than a cigarette lighter!
Just watch the thermostat setting because even though its only a little flame it gets mighty cold and icey in there! More than one occasiion we have frozen the contents of the fridge!!!
Ice cold beer is one thing but frozen tomatoes are not pleasant
Generally speaking we leave ourson the mid setting, during the colder months it gets trned down and in summer it gets turned up, well apart from last year when it was not so warm outside for most of the year! You can buy a fride thrmostat to put inside, these tell you the temp, best around 5degrees c for a fridge. (any colder and the beer is iced not chilled! lol)

And remenber if you have an outside cover over the flue. You need to take it off B4 operating the fridge on gas
Can I leave those covers on when using the electric? I usually do, I've never ran the fridge on gas.
Yes you can. My manual for the senator tells me that the two cover for the fridge & cooker are seasonal covers & should be left on when using the van over winter and removed when outside air temp is above 10degrees (i think it says 10degrees) I thought it was a bit strange but run fridge on gas last weekend without any problems.
