Hi,

My battery has packed up and I have'nt got time to replace it before I go on our next trip.

Will it be safe to use the sites electric hook-up with no battery?

 Yes the battery is used as back up if electric fails or you are on a site without elec  tric then you need the battery the best thing i can suggest if you have a plug connector is plug in your electric lead at home and test it before you go away i hope this helps

The battery is needed for some 12volt items , ie water pump , 12volt lights , electric toilet , spark ignition on some water heaters , space heaters and fridges .

Unless you know that your battery charger is a transformer as well , you should either find out or buy a battery , hope this helps.

Some modern caravans have transformers fitted and can be used without a battery in place, but older ones usually need a battery, as Wizard says.

whatever you do after making up your mind,you must if not using the battery in situ,you must insulate the cables each side by covering them with a plastic bag and string so they cannot come off. although the battery is not there it is still being sent a charge from the charger.if the battery is no good it should be removed for safety reasons. they can overheat and explode.

Hi Mr Andy Parry

you can use your mains / charger without a battery  BUT the charger will

 continue to put out 13.86 volts max  until the battery is charged. This will

reduce the life of the charger. So put a battery on even if it's not very good.

The charger will suply 12volts to your 12volt system anyway no problem,

but be sure to insulate the battery terminals.
