HI folks!  We've just bought a 1993 Bailey Scorpio Auvergne CD.  I think originally this had an in-line water filter (it's got the Whale water system with Carver 2 water heater), however one of the previous owners seems to have removed it...no problem there.

However, they have replaced it with the following line up between the see-through striped blue cold water pipe at the bottom and the solid (metal type) pipe leading to the tap at the top (in this order):

1.  Stripey blue pipe appears at the bottom and enters what looks like a reducer

2.  The reducer is then connected via jubilee clip to a small piece of solid blue pipe.

3.  This is then connected via another jubilee clip to two more reducer "type-things" (when expanded I can see a small piece of see-through blue striped pipe in there too)

4.  The top of the second reducer is then connected to the solid metal pipe leading to the tap.

Basically 1, 2 and 4 are OK, the leak is coming from the two reducers that are connected together but I can't for the life of me work out how they come apart without damaging them...the confined space doesn't help either!

Any ideas of how to get the reducers apart...or whatever they are!

If they have a coller on them , you have to push the coller towards the fitting and then pull .

133In this picture you push the black coller towards the fitting , to release it's grip on the pipe.

you will need new connectors as the sealing ring inside is worn.. a B&Q will stock them in the plumbing section ... as wizard says push in the collars and pull the pipe free ..as a tip when connecting the new ones wet the inside of the connector or better still the pipe before pushing home..this will ease the connection and not pinch the new sealing ring inside the connector

Sounds like a bodge to me.I would replace it all.Start with an equal connector (12mm?) on the blue stripey pipe put in a new length of stripey pipe and connect with appropriate sized fitting to metal pipe or if possible a connector to fit straight from stripey pipe to tap and remove metal completely.

Less fittings and chances to leak.I would guess most DIY stores fittings are 15mm or 10mm and I am almost certain your blue stripey pipe is 12mm.Best bet is to take as much as you can with you and visit your local caravan centre, ours stock most fittings for all different systems.

Thanks all for your help and advice!  I have managed to dismantle it all and take it to Discover in Chorley!  I have now bought an additional piece of pipe and a spare reducer.

Sweetpeaheidi - I agree, it is definitely a botch job, trying to remove the water filter.  I am planning to add a straight connector piece at the bottom, my new piece of pipe and then a single reducer to connect it to the metal pipe.

Taking it all apart, they had connected a straight piece to the blue pipe, then a reducer, followed by a reverse reducer!  Bizarre...I think my plan will reduce the options for it to leak!!  Will be sorting that out later tonight when we arrive at our site for the weekend...
