Hello all.

I've got a 99 Fleetwood and managed to put a 6 inch crack in the front of it starting at the locker.

I would like to put something behind the crack to strengthen it but am not sure what to use. Could I glue some plastic on using contact adhesive?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I doubt whether fibreglass would adhere to the front if its an ABS type of plastic, and a lot are.  I know that there folk out there who 'weld' this stuff, usually they specialise in the repair of motorcycle fairings and bodyparts.

Feel the reverse side of the panel - it it's smooth, it's ABS - if it has the rough texture of intermingled strands, it's glassfibre.

My Fleetwood Garland front panel is ABS, and I had a go at a small crack with with a piece of plastic and some pipe weld adhesive, used by plumbers for some types of ABS plastic pipe fittings. It worked a treat!  It is the same stuff as Airfix glue for model planes and boats, and it forms a weld by melting the plastic chemically. 

If you are going to try this, test on a small area that will not be seen first, to make sure that it will not go right through and destroy the panel.  On mine it was fine, but make sure that any plastic that you use to stick on the back is compatible with the glue by sticking a few scraps first.
