Hi all...as you can see from the title, we have a poorly shower tray in our caravans wet room. Its cracked around the plug hole. We can't afford to replace it, but does anyone know if we can mend the cracks with something? We wondered if a sealant would do...the type you put around your bath at home.
The plughole (according to the plumber who put our new bath in) is the weakest point in a bath or shower tray. So we thought we could mend it and then put a board or something over it to stop us stepping on it when we use the loo.
Has anyone any ideas???
Thanks everyone for reading my post.

Hi...the cracks are in the depression that houses the crome plug-hole fitting. All along one side. We do use the shower alot. I'm not sure if we can lift it out, I think it forms part of the toilet base, but will look when we go to the van (its in storage).
I'm worried that water could escape from these cracks and begin to form damp under the shower. Is that possible???
If we make the hole bigger and get a bigger fitting, would it fit the pipe that sits under the tray??
As you can tell.....we are not experienced in caravan DIY.
Thanks for all you replies.

no.

yes

if its a standard fit, there should be a screw in the centre of the old fitting.this screws into a gray fitting on the underside.if you take care when removing the screw the gray bit will stay in place, held by the sealer.as long as you do not push on the screw when undoing it.
i would go down the strainer over the top route.this is about three inch across and along with new sealer covers the crack up.may be slightly proud and could hold a tiny bit of water in the bottom of the shower.
will take a photo and try to get it on here for you...........

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
