I had a section of floor in my ELDDIS Hurricane 1995 model that had delaminated. It was infront of the cooker area and was approx 48" long by 28" wide. So I started researching what to do about it and using the info on this site I found the confidence to attack the job. A big thank you to the contributors of the articles that I read.

Heres my experience of doing this job I hope that any one else thinking of tackling this job will read this and take from it anything they wish.

I firstly stripped back the carpet carefuly once I found out that it had been stapled down I didn't want to rip the carpet. Once the floor was exposed I drew out a 4" x 4" grid over the area. The corner of the boxes in the grid were where I would dril into the floor.

Underneath the van I jacked it up off the floor and supported the axle with large timbers ensuring the steadys were down thus the van was stable and I could lay underneath it. I checked the area under the delamination there were no gas lines or wires. I cut a piece of chipboard to the size of the area and marked the centre of the board by drawing diagonal lines from opposing corners. I then offered the board up to the underside of the affected area using a scisors jack located under the centre of the board. Once jacked up to the underside of the flor I  went insid ethe van and layed a meter stick on edge acros the delaminated area

This showed a dip in the floor of some 5mm or so. I carefully adjusted the jack up to take up the gap. Once level I placed two more scisor jacks under the board carefull not to push up the floor further.

Having marked an 8mm drill bit at the correct depth for the holes in my case 34 mm I then drilled out the 84 holes. The area I then thoroughly hoovered including the holes them selves to remove any debris.

The resin purchased via E bay for £29 I mixed early in the morning at 6.30 when cool to ensure that the mix did not go off to quickly.I then inerted the resin into the holes using the syringe included in the kit. What caught me out was he rate at which the delaminated area took the resin it sucked it up like a sponge. Also the speed at which the adjacent holes filled up from below. This was the messy bit. Lots of wiping up and rags used. Fill the holes with the dowels (50) of them in the kit and cover the area with plastic and weights for a few hours. After 6 hours the area was rock hard. Belt sand the area and the dowels and relay the carpet. There was only a small amout that leaked out of the seam joints under the van even though I was carefull to tape them up. End result is a rock hard floor with no bounce.

Would I attempt it again certainly

Something that is also on my to-do list

How do you know how deep to drill?

you drill very carefully until you touch the bottom layer of ply, then tape up the drill to this depth with black insulation tape.wind round a few times and this stops the drill going in to far on the next hole.

When I went under the van I found a vent undre the area of the gas fire. This was where a section of the flooring was cut out I could clearly see the structure of the floor. The bottom ply was 5 ply about 6 or 8 mm thick. The centre of the floor sandwich was the styrate (I think thats what its called) about 26-28 mm thick and the top layer ply again nwas 5 ply. I used a vernier guage to measure the thicknes of the top ply and the styrate i.e 36mm but I driled to 34 mm to be sure.

I'm afraid that as my OH is a DIY person [as in YOU do it YOURSELF!!] I didn't want to try and tackle the job my self. So when our van went in for it's service, i asked the dealer if they could possibly do it for us. Yes it did cost, but at least the job has been done, and hopefully the van's life has been extended for a few further years.

My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.
