Hello,

My first post and guess what, it's because i have a problem.

My caravan has recently developed lots of cracks on several windows, the cracks are all on the inside and all at the internal handles.

I am looking really for information as to why these cracks have occurred and what preventative measures can be taken to prevent this from happening again.

The van is getting on a bit to be fair, it is now 12 years old and perhaps windows need changing when vans get this old. Although it seems strange to me that several windows have all started to fail at the same time.

I wondered if the cracks have appeared because someone has tried to force the windows.

If this is the case what and where are the best places to source replacements and how do you go about it with regards to window tints etc.

Regards.

Mike

Hi, Windows are very hard to source and having new made is easy, but will cost upwards of £250 each, Try the breakers yards as these are the best chance but shade etc is a bit hit and miss due to age, storage conditions and model. If you look in the business/supplier section on here there are a few breakers listed that may be able to help.

The cracks could be from the windows being clrelessly handled when closing, or the plastic may have become brittle by using an inappropriate cleaner.  Windows are expensive to replace new and as rabb_uk says, hit and miss from the breakers.  The colour tints are "Roxite" numbers but the colour fades over the years so it is just about impossible to get a perfect match the best you can do is get the same colour number and hopefully it will have seen as much sun as yours.  That said, if you find the right size for a decent price, then snap it up.....I have looked for 18 months for one to fit but am still looking at a crack!!
