Can anyone recommend a product or advice about how to clean my carpets. I've brought them home so i can clean them and get them dry.

some car washes have the mat cleaners if not i use a firm on ebay to order all my valeting stuff from misteral i think they are called the do a high foam cleaner that you can buy

Hire a Rug Doctor carpet caleaning machine from a major supermarket - they are excellent machines.
