Between 2-3 years ago there was a fairly lengthy thread about this problem - apparently the grey seals were notorious for 'melting/dissolving' and then drying and welding the windows shut as they did so. Various suggestions regarding unsticking windows (without breaking the window) and cures were given, but the general opinion was - replace with black, which did not have this problem. I was lucky, in that this thread was running just before I bought a '95 Alpine, which (like yours) turned out to have this problem! Also, as mentioned, Als Parker had recently shown how to replace seals - very useful!
