By light cracks I assume you mean that only the gelcoat is cracked.
Plastic padding gelcoat repair makes a repair assuming that you can clean out the crack and roughen it to make a good key for the repair paste
The major problems wih gelcoat cracks is what s going on under the crack- has the crack let moisture in and delaminated the gelcoat from whatever it was applied over and /or is the crack still growing. Very small holes drilled at the end of the cracks usually stops the crack's progress. The only way to find out about damage below the crack is to the widen the crack and have a look
If you have a boatyard / chandlers near you go and see what they have as delam cracking is a fairly common occurance in fibreglass craft. they usually sell delam repair kits and are a font of knowledge as how best to use
