Hi all

I hope that someone can help me with a problem I have with my carver water heater fitted to my 1987 Bailey Pagaent maru caravan.

When i switch on the heater,I hear a click and the green light comes on then, after a short while, starts blinking.I have checked the instructions and the fault finding in the book but nothing seems to work.

Yesterday, when I was trying, it lit and I was able to get some hot water but then after a while the green light started blinking, indicating a fault and i have not been able to get it working since.

I know is is not important but if is just frustrating when 1 minute it seems to be working and then it stops.

Thanks in advance

Keith

First is it always lighting but still you get the green flashing?
If so try this, remove the control switch cover, the wires are connected to a black plastic block, pull the block off the pins on the board and replace a few times. This scratches a fresh connection and can often cure this fault

BTW, You have a cascade mk1 which Carver stopped making at the end of 84?!

Hi Gary

thanks for that.I will give that a try when I am at the caravan next weekend.

I must admit that the age variation between the age of the van when I bought it(It was advertised as a 1987) and some of the features in the van e.g the water heater and other things have puzzled me but as it is a solid van then I am happy.

thanks again for your help

Keith

In truth at this sort of age condition is everything.

While you are poking around the heater though, under the water tank on the short end of the floor plate, you should feel a small piece of paper folded and taped down. This is the test certificate and is dated, the van will be just a bit younger.

Hi

an update on the water heater problem. We checked the switch made a new connection and it seems to have solved the problem. Thanks Gary.

The test certificate showed a date of 1982 with a date of 1983 on the control switch so i gather this was replaced later.

Thanks again for your help

Keith

That's great, I like it when the simple solutions work.

As for the year, the Maru is listed in 84 but nothing after. The early 82 Mk2 control switches were problematical and quite possibly replaced under warranty with the Mk2a, this seems to be what you have and after 25yrs I'd say the 2a is fairly reliable?!
