The roof vent over the kitchen of our swift challanger has broken off .Its the part that pushes up and for the winter we have had to strap it down. My question is do we have to replace all the vent or can we replace just the broken section?

we have never  had to repair a thing before .

You can get the roof light domes here http://www.leisurefayre.co.uk/original_site/html_pages/cavester03.htm

Or get a nice new Fammia here Click_here .

Imo you'd be better off with a nice new roof vent as the price between the replacement dome and a new one isn't much .
See here for info http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/mini-heki-install.htm

Plenty here Click_here

That was the first job i ever did on my swift.

Very easy to do,0nly 4 screws

The downside is the caravan shops know where to hit you hard,am sure I was about £40 for replacement.

Good Luck

Alan

Some more pictures for you, Click Here. I decided on a Mini Heki to let more light in over the kitchen area, what a difference it has made. As mentioned the cost difference for a new one and a replacement dome is not that much, so personally I would go for a new unit.

Good info here, and I thought about a mini heki myself, the original skylight was pretty dirty, and half the battle was that the dirt was inaccessable! I took the skylight off, it was only 4 screws, then took it apart, and cleaned with a neat solution of Mr.Fenwicks. Half an hour later it was all back together again and as good as new!

This is now one of my "spring clean" items that I do once a year.

Of course this does not fix a broken skylight, but I have heard of many people replacing manky ones!
