Hi all,
Have been reading a lot of posts re: sealing caravans and have at last plucked up the courage to get started on ours (damp at the rear off side - soft wall, but has dried nicely since putting the van under cover for a few months). I'm not ready to do the internal stuff yet - it's not too bad aesthetically, but want to reseal all of all the rails (these have previously been 'botched' by previous owners unknown, with what looks like anything ranging from silicon sealant to chewing gum!).
The problem is - I've just been out and measured the widths of all the seals - the measured widths include 19mm, 26mm,36mm and 38mm.
Seems that mastic rolls come in 19mm, 32mm and 45mm.
The question is 'do I need to buy a roll of mastic that is wider than the rail, then trim it down? or do I buy the nearest size narrower thanthe rail and patch the shortfall with sikaflex'?
Any advice gratefully received
