I've got a Swift challenger 550 (think it's an 86 model) and there is a constant buzzing noise coming from the water pump as soon as the electric is turned on, is this normal? Sorry if it sounds like a daft question but our last van was a dry van and we don't know anything about ones with a water system. We bought the van a few wks ago and it wasn't making this noise then. We made the mistake of letting the kids have a play in there and this noise has appeared ever since.
Hi John we did put some through the pipes yesterday so hubby could show me it coming out of the shower but the noise was there before this. It just happens when you flick the electric switch on. Its like a droning noise.
If it is a pressure operated system, the pressure setting may need adjusted.
The setting often needs to be different when on battery only compared to when on ehu, and as the battery voltage drops may need to be adjusted further.
Do not let the pump run without it being in water, you will damage it.
I'd guess this is an 'open' tap. I had the same thing when I first got my van. I've read since that it's not a good idea to leave your water pump running 'dry'. If all taps are full off, then I'd guess the microswitches (which are within the taps) could be stuck on. You could test this by first putting the pump into a bucket of water and see where it comes out.
I'm guessing you have fixed it by now, but i have had the same problem with my Swift. It is the micro switch in one of the taps staying on - try adjusting the screw in the top of the tap to ensure the arm on the tap stays right down on the switch when its turned off.
