Just received my van back from its 2 year service and found that it has damp. The readings are 40%. Need lower rail replacing. This will be done under warranty but will not be done until July/August. I am a little worried the damp report says above 30% structual damage may be occuring and deteriation is inevitable.Leaving this for 4 months does not sound very good. This takes me into the main holiday season. How long will the van be under repair. Who knows what if Bailey went bust like others have where would that leave me. I obviously would not be able to sell now with this issue even though under guarantee.

I would like to hear anybody else views on this before I start shouting at someone.

Firstly get yourself a caravan cover and keep it covered when not in use.  This should minimise any further water ingress.

It seems to take months to get parts, our seasonal pitch neighbours waited 10 months to get their Adria fixed for instance.  Why not contact your dealer and ask them why the delay and what time scale they would expect once it is in their workshop and then you can decide what action, if any, to take?

Is this something that is done by the dealer not the manufacturer. I am obviously very concerned about this in a new van. If it can`t get done before August surely it will deteriate more. Will the van be safe to go away in before this is fixed. How common is this problem in a van so new. It almost makes we want to jump ship and buy a new caravan except I could not sell it with this problem.

Or am I just over reacting?

We have a 2006 series 5 pageant burgundy which we bought last year.  It went for its first service since we bought it two weeks ago to discover that there is 60% damp around the front windows.  This is due to cracking in the front panel.  The whole front panel needs to be replaced, fortunately under warrenty and it won't be done for 2-3 months. The dealer is doing the repair and when we spoke to them they said that this is a known problem with series 5 pageants (they had another one in at the same time having both front and back panels replaced. This has really upset us and we can't believe we have bought a caravan with this problem, we thought baileys were almost bullet proof.  The dealer has assured us that once the new panel is fitted there should be no more problems. Lets hope thats the case.
