Hello, i have finally got my first caravan and had a pleasant easter holiday in it there. Its an early 90's sprite muskateer in immaculate condition inside, however the nearside is a little worse for wear, the stripes are all faded and flakey. i was wondering how to go about replacing the stripes or painting over them, do i have to use special paints, is there paint codes for each stripe, do i have to respray the whole van first?? I really don't have a clue and would be grateful of any advice on how to go about this.
If you can remove a piece in tact, and take it to your local vinyl graphics or sign makers as I did, they coppied it and did enough for my van but mine is a M/home and they did it spot on £60 for the lot.which I thought was very good.

If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

I know a guy who makes signs etc and was going to ask him if he could maybe make something, but how do you make sure you get a smooth surface to stick them on?? The van is not a flat surface as it is (pebbledashed) and with the rough edges of the already stripes that's on it. Also it's different shades of purple and different sized stripes.............
You need to take off the stripes that are on there before applying the new ones, a hairdrier can help with softening the glue, make sure you get all of the glue off before putting the new ones on. I've had a couple of Sprites of that age and IIRC the stripes were all maroon and grey/silver. The different shades of maroon are probably down to fading. I would take some pictures before you strip the old ones off to take to the signwriters, so they can see the positions. They can do different widths.
