Hi all ! I want to replace my Caravan carpet with cushionfloor has anybody out there got any hints or tips on how to or has anybody done this with theirs already and give me a few pointers ? (Swift Lynmere 2 berth end kitchen
based on the Charisma 220) Reason for swapping is we find the carpet to be impracticable when touring France as most sites tend to be sand based under the grass ? Any help would be appreciated (reasonably good DIY skills)
Hi Mike did this on a van i bought that had been lived in carpet was minging i had a piece of cushion floor covering left over from the house where possible i slid it under fixings otherwise just cut into the edges the spray glued it down and silicon sealed around the edge looked good just put a carpet runner through to give it a cosey look
Thanks for the reply. I can lift the seating frames and lay under it it's just the wardrobe, toilet, kitchen and fridge where i would need to cut it tight and spray glue then possibly. Problem I have is thinking about the resale value later on if it didn't look right. Regards Mike !
we did our old van took the old carpet out and it fell apart, got me self some vinyl comfy soft stuff and lay it down and where the main seating are was put a new carpet down over that look great easy to clean, as one found out one muddy weekend away, may do the same to our new van and get the old carpet whipped so it can be taken out any time.
If you are going to stick the vinyl down use vinyl spray adhesive as carpet adhesive can react with the vinyl and will go all gooey and could stain the floor. If it is not fitted quite tight enough clear silicon will tidy the edges and seal the floor.Don't use white silicon it looks a mess if you don't get it right.
