I would go about things slightly differently , i would remove the rotten bit's of floor , then dry the area , next screw a piece of board underneath that overlaps the damaged edges by a few inches or more . Now i would fill the gap with floor delamination glue ( if it's a big area use the glue but add polystyrene sheet etc to fill the void ) . When the area is filled to over flowing add a piece of sheet on the top and place some weight on it , once the glue has gone off the piece should be stuck firmly in place . Note you could use quite a few different things to fill the floor , it's up to you what you use , i'd recommend the floor glue because it sets rock hard .
