hi i have a 2001 compass rallye 530/4 with a powercenter 2 fitted with automatic relays.

the problem is when i connect the 12s plug to the car it cuts out all the 12v system and the battery level meter drops to 0. when i disconnect the fridge (red) wire at the back of the car everything is fine i.e the battery charges from the car but when its reconnect it all goes off again.

according to the hand book it is wired up correctly so could anyone shed any light on this problem?

many thanks

mark

Sounds like it is working correctly to me. I think the recent Construction and Road use regulations state that all non-essential items in a caravan are turned off when the caravan is moving. You can still run the fridge when moving and charge batteries.

Does your battery charge with your fridge connected? Ignore any panel mount meters as these are probably wired after the relay which switches off the general purpose electrics.

Hope this helps.

Hi does this happen without your ign switched on or when you start the car

if it does as soon as you plug in the 12s plug the problem is with the car  ie you are getting a feed from your fridge feed witch will switch off the relay in the caravan

if it does it when you start the car then all is working ok
