Just went up to check on the van which is in storage and found the bathroom all wet. It appears to be dripping from the skylight. It is firmly shut but there were drips on the handles. Any suggestions? Had it serviced a month ago and all was well.

Also washed the van a few weeks ago and opened the front middle window to clean around and now this leaks at the bottom. We put vasaline around the rubber seal as we thought this was the problem but that hasn't cured it. Could it be somthing to do with the rail that runs above it. Any advise gratefully received.

Fairly new to caravanning .......so trying not to panic.17

It's an easy enough job to do if you dont mind having a go at it.
Unscrew the sky light from inside and remove the inner frame and then from above remove the whole sky light, you may find that the mastic will try to hold it down but a bit of wriggling will free it. Clean all old mastic off using white spirit and a piece of wood and rag, this has to be thoroughly clean. Reapply mastic using mastic on a roll and then fix back together.

Alternatively find a dealer or a repairman

I had the same problem on my caravan skylight all i did was removed the skylight & found that the rubber washers had perished so i replaced them with washers with the rubber seals on that are used to put steel roof panels up with & it has cured the problem so i'd give that a try

The van is 13 years old and every thing was fine at the service. Only a bit of damp in a cupboard. We have got to have the rail off as damp was getting through a screw hole. The window only started leaking after we cleaned the van and I opened it. Wish I hadn't bothered now.17
