Have washed my van today, but still looks grubby. Can I use normal Halfords car polish on her or do I have to buy something special,,,,,,,,,, cheers Shaun

hi guys, sorry to jump in on this thread but we have just bought a tourer that's been on site for a while before we bought it (years by the look of it !!) so the non awning side is looking a bit green & mouldy, which is a shame cos the rest of the van is immaculate - would the caravan cleaner you mention be good for this kind of heavy duty cleaning , then use the fenwicks stuff to make is shine.... or.... is it beyond replenishing ?? - also is powerhosing the side and roof of the van a no no ??
many thanks
Rob
My van was the same when I got it, I did powerwash it but was very careful not too go near any joints, even then after a week or so i found a small damp patch that has now been cured, maybe I caused it?
Anyway, I would use some hard surface cleaner or even traffic film remover (anyone used TFR??? is it safe on vans) let the green stuff soften up before scrubbing it off, I used a green sponge/scourer on the roof last week to get the muck off (as no-one sees the roof) and this worked a treat, it didn't seem to scratch it. Get a toothbrush (someones you dont like!) and scrub the crevices, when the green stuff is off use a good polish to finish off, it is hard work and the powerwasher is very tempting!!!
