Have washed my van today, but still looks grubby. Can I use normal Halfords car polish on her or do I have to buy something special,,,,,,,,,, cheers Shaun

You can, but it will take ages!!!
Been there, got the sore arms!!!
Try "Bobby Dazzler", worked on ours.

Ditto Bobby dazzler from finnegans. I used to use Mer on ours but it is far too much like hard work.

A good wash with some proper caravan cleaner then bobby dazzler on top and ours looks like new.

I washed our van yesterday before the new owner picked it up.  Used to use normal car shampoo without great results but used Caraclean which I bought in Pioneer Caravans and it was much better.  Also used the caraclean black streak remover which was fab and some tar-remover which was like magic for getting off the really stubborn marks.

After initial thoughts that caravan-cleaner is a con, I stand corrected!

I think I'm right in saying that Bobby Dazzler is the polish that follows the cleaning. Fenwicks, the makers, produce a cleaner that I think is brilliant. Use that and then the Bobby Dazzler for a super finish.

I hav found Showroomshine from ideal worldtv brill you dont even have to wash car or van first. After first coat  it protects from any thing you can throw at it.

I was in the same boat, struggling with black marks etc, on recommendation I've just bought some "Silky" paste caravan cleaner, seems to do the job perfectly, by Saturday afternoon it was looking like a new pin! I did also finish it off with some spray wax and my electric buffer, you can see your face in the flat panels now!

hi guys,  sorry to jump in on this thread but we have just bought a tourer that's been on site for a while before we bought it (years by the look of it !!) so the non awning side  is looking a bit green & mouldy, which is a shame cos the rest of the van is immaculate  -  would the caravan cleaner you mention be good for this kind of heavy duty cleaning , then use the fenwicks stuff to make is shine.... or.... is it beyond replenishing ??    -  also is powerhosing the side and roof of the van a no no ??

many thanks

My van was the same when I got it, I did powerwash it but was very careful not too go near any joints, even then after a week or so i found a small damp patch that has now been cured, maybe I caused it?

Anyway, I would use some hard surface cleaner or even traffic film remover (anyone used TFR??? is it safe on vans) let the green stuff soften up before scrubbing it off, I used a green sponge/scourer on the roof last week to get the muck off (as no-one sees the roof) and this worked a treat, it didn't seem to scratch it. Get a toothbrush (someones you dont like!) and scrub the crevices, when the green stuff is off use a good polish to finish off, it is hard work and the powerwasher is very tempting!!!

Now as much as everybody knows I am defo NOT the queen of cleaning, (life's far toooooo short for housework peeps and all things cleaning except where me beloved tin tent is concerned), but hubby also swears by Bobby Dazzler like many other peeps on 'ere.
