When I am carrying the full cassette from my Thetford C4 toilet to the emptying point, the contents are leaking out of the automatic pressure release vent.
Does anyone know how to stop this happening?
Just had the same thing happen. Popped the Thetford to local dealer who fitted a new valve in 15mins as the "seal" had gone. Not used it yet but seems ok now. Not sure if it could have been fixed by myself? Everything I touch normally goes wrong!!
Hi
Should the vent unit unscrew from the cassette? I am pretty sure that it should but ours seams to be stuck & I dont want to damage it by using force, I have the same leaking problem & have bought a new seal but cannot remove the vent to fit it
I had this same problem. It turned out to be very simple to deal with. At some point when the cassette was very full, some substance I won't name had come up the vent hole and dried, so when the spring loaded vent tried to close it couldn't.
I got a small screwdriver and cleaned all the bits out, a few aquirts of WD40, and worked it up and down a few times by hand.
5 minutes, no problem. Bet yours is the same. Do try it before you spend any money.
DO NOT use WD40 on anything plastic, it swells and jams, there are other sprays available but that one is meant for metal to metal. I found out the hard way by spraying the bushes on my Saab headlamp wipers, they seized.
Just to let you know I've cured the problem by fitting a replacement vent. I did try cleaning the old one first before spending any money but that didn't do the trick.
The new one cost £10.87 from a local caravan dealer, it was very easy to fit and cured the problem immediately.
