Hi all .

Right  we have just had a good look at the caravan and the front end around windows and down the side looks rotten , infact hubby has just taken curtain and blind rail down and its that rotten it fell in to his hands .

We havent got loads of money to get it sorted so   can we do it ourselves ? not really done any big jobs on caravan

I feel so stupid and annoyed because i could have probably prevented this as last year chris stopped a window leaking after finding a tiny puddle of water by the window .

please help 30

Hi Foxy250 , from your pictures it looks like the window seal and window hanger have been letting in water , also possibably the front to roof joining trim ( across the caravan ) . Have a look at these repairs http://www.leanneandmark.co.uk/Caravan_Repair.html
http://www.caravanrepairs.talktalk.net/index.html
I expect these repairs are what you will be looking at doing to your caravan , the first things you should do are, cover the front of the caravan to stop any more water getting in , take plenty of pictures both inside and out , as you do the repairs , they will help as a reference and will spur you on , you'll be able to look at what it was like and now how much better it looks .
What to do next , there are different ways to start the repairs , but this is how i'd go about it , remove the front windows and seals , see here http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/window-hanger-reseal.htm
http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/window-reseal-2.htm
Next strip out the damp wall board ( now this may involve stripping out all the front wall board , but you will need to decide weather you need to remove it all , i expect you will from looking at the pictures ) .
Next access the wood framework ( spars ) under the wall board , if it's rotten then it needs to be replaced , if it's damp it will probably dry out with some help from a fan heater , it may be quicker to replace than to dry out .

That should be enough to get you started , keep emailing me pictures as you go , it would be better to start repairs sooner rather than leave longer as it will only get worse .
Caravan repairs are very labour intensive , but you should be able to do them quite cheaply .
You'll get plenty of good advice from The Fixed it Club members , just post on here when you need it or email me .

Good Luck .

We got someone to  give us a quote today  just to see what we were up against .

Have decided to pay to have the awning rail and few other areas resealed and then  Chris will attempt the rest .

The damp was 50 % up the corner but thank god we dont have it anywhere else .

So once its been resealled i shall send photos and updates of the progress .

Thanks to wizard who has made it possible to tackle the problem and everyone else on the fix it board
