Well we are making slow progress fixing our van. We've taken out some sections of the roof lining and the centre batten seems to be sound, despite the leak at the back. Probably this was a new leak started when the van was moved.

We have two quotes from local repairers to reseal the roof seam (We simply cannot reach it to do it ourselves). We are in North Norfolk. One firm in Rackheath quoted £350 plus parts plus VAT while another one on a Norwich industrial estate was £150 all in.

Does anyone have any recommendations for repairers in the Norwich / N. Norflok area, or suggestions as to why there is such a great difference in the quotes.

In the meantime it's back to tent camping for our trip to Yorkshire next week.

It's a real dilemma - maybe one company is much more professional than the other. On the other hand it could be that one company is short of work and wants your business to keep them going.

I had a repair done by the 'expensive' quote earlier in the year and now wish I'd stuck with my more local and cheaper caravan repairs service who have always looked after my 'vans.

I've no idea about the Norfolk area, but go with your instincts unless somebody on here can give you a lead.

stick some seam seal tape on it till you had your jollies then repair your self off a ladder.did my ace quartz this way several years ago no problem.i just replaced an air vent with a solar powered one today off a ladder.

Dear Neil, can you be a bit more descriptive than "off a ladder"? I can reach the seam from a ladder at the side of the van but no way could I get a screwdriver to the screws, or put sealant / seal in the right place (Guessing this is one situation where putting the sealant on the van rather than the metal capping strip is best).

"Celebration" Thanks for the comment on repairers. We also have a place just around the corner from us but I've heard poor reports of them. I'll keep asking around too.
