We replaced our carpets with vinyl a couple of months ago and so glad we did it is much easier to keep clean and keep dry as we found when we left our rooflight open and went out for the day and it rained and found a nice puddle waiting for us.Its a fiddly job and if you have not taken your carpet up yet make sure you get all the staples out of the floor if the carpet is fastened down and just fit up to the cupboards etc.
Use very sharp knife and best of luck.
