Hi there

We are just back from our 1st night away in our 1990 Swift Challenger 520/5TE caravan.

I tried in vain to get water to flow from any tap & even tried the shower but nothing flowed.

I have filled up the fresh water tank with the wired pump in the water inlet at the side. I think the pump clicks on because I notice a slight dimming of the lights when I turn on a tap.

I guess the answer is to have the Swift services as it is new to us and has layed still for over a year.

If anyone has any tips please let me know.

I am based in Dunbar and plan to use Crossburn Caravan Park in Peebles to service my caravan, is there a better one that people have used around Edinburgh or the Lothians?

Many thanks.

the pump has frozen with not being used possibly.try a new pump. this is why the lights dim and it could blow your fuse too.

The pump will be tucked to one side of the tank in the bottom of the wardrobe.... 2 wires & the hoses job done!

Go on, have a go you know you want to!

Hi emsylu, I found the pump as you said on the bottom right hand side of the tank in the wardrobe. The pump is a Superline 99 Electric Pump.

I have a gas space heater fixed to the front of the wardrobe (which does not work). I tried to remove it but the fixings are impossible to remove without taking half the caravan apart :-)

Also, my fresh water tank is full and I do not know how to empty it. I'll have to call around a few caravan servicing places and get a quote to replace the pump. Hopefully they will know the easiest way to do it.

Thanks for the help.

Kev,

Dos the tank fill from halfway up the van on the outside? Just thread a hosepipe into the filler neck (its a fiddle as the neck has a sharp turn where it goes into the tank) then gravity syphon it out!

Honestly, I have had to do it and once you get the water out its dead easy! The pump isnt even screwed down as I remember!

Thanks Jim, I will do as you say and drain it with a length of hose.
