Recently purchased a late 80's Abi Marauder 5 berth caravan off ebay ( no I didn't take a damp meter 1st mistake). Anyway spruced all the main part of the van and found no problems including under seats etc etc. Sorted out the wiring with my Dad (aged 79 bless him). Decided to tackle the bathroom last, no fixed loo just a porta loo, as previous owner had stuck sticky floor tiles on floor plus added a step up in there and had put the floor tiles on the wall at the bottom too. Cosmetic I know but they didnt look good so sticky tiles off first. Discovered walls had been cut away and polysterene showing. Managed to get step out what a job they'd used 4 inch screws. To find that they have laid a new piece of flooring just in the loo area that doesn't fit properly and the wooden supports at the back of the van are black with rot. I've now got to try and get this piece of wood out but can't get two of the screws to move i'm also panicking about what i'm going to find underneath. Have to say the fix it club pages have helped a lot. Peeved but even at 40 you still learn lessons every day. Any advice on this would be great as not sure i'm up to the task but monies tight as i'm on my own now with three children Thanks Penny.
Drill the heads off the screws and the wood should lift. I don't know how DIY savvy you are but maybe a local joiner/odd job man would do the repair for you reasonably as many are scraping for work at present, ask around for a decent trader as yello pages are full of cowboys, word of mouth will find you a good local.
