My caravan mover will only work for a few seconds (if I'm lucky) before tripping and needing reset.  This is a right pain as the reset button is awkward to get to.

It is a Truma twin axle about four years old.

Someone suggested that the leisure battery could be on its way out but I'm reluctant to splash out on a new one if it could be something else causing it.

Any suggestions (clean and helpful) would be appreciated.

check handset batteries first as these go often,take your battery to a garage and them to check it for you.if there is not enough power it will trip out. ring these guys they do give technical support......

Never thought about the handset battery, could well be the cause as it has never been changed.  The mover is seldom used as I can usually put the van where I want it using the car (used to drive artics), so I tend to forget all about it until the odd time it's needed.

I suppose since all else failed, I could have tried reading the instructions!

I won't be going to the van for a while (it's in storage) but will let you know the result in due course.

I don't mind spending money on necessary things but I have used the van on a few occasions recently without electric hook up and have had no problems with the battery although it was charged daily from a generator.

Batteries need a proper charger to charge them fully for movers, the caravans battery  charger doesnt quite get them up there, i'm in a hurry so got to dash if you need more advice email me on neleisure at sky.com

Try putting one of the 12v lights on whilst using the mover. If the light doesn't go dim the battery should be OK. The awning light should be easy to see.

But if, as you say, the mover keeps tripping its more likely the mover motor is overloaded or the trip is too sensitive.
