I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you who have helped us over the past months with our Avondale.  Particularly Wizard, Louise Jackman and Icce.  We now have a pristine caravan and I have to say that it's been a job well done.  For anyone who is currently sat, head in hands, figuring out what to do about the soggy bit they've just found - don't worry it's not the nightmare it first seems.  If we can help with anything just let us know.

The Woofs x

Glad you have got it sorted and you have a nice van again it mustr be very rewarding to know its all done :)

unfortunatley....we have just come back from a lovely weekend,we knew the van had some damp........well when unpacking hubby decided to start, poking around for it all,as he is going to repair it all over the winter, well im crying nearly,we knew it might be bad i wasnt quite prepared how bad,the whole wall from front to back (awning side) is well black and sodden, before we knew it we took the cupboards out and started peeling away at the wall covering,i nearly fainted, its grim.Im thinking its the end but hubby who is DIY mad is quite happy to have another project to do,he says we cant afford another van,and besides this one was in our family for ages, and we like it and its our fisrt van,so he is sure is all fixable,i have faith in his words 100% he has restored classic cars, rebuilt things and he is a sparks by trade, and he said with time you wont recognise her.

Im searching through wizards great site,i think this is going to be our bible,im going to chip in and help where i can,and fingers crossed Biba (van) will be back on the road next year. But boy does it look bad now :(

Hi Natalie,

So glad you're all finished, we're getting there, the bathroom is all done now, the cooker and sink are back in, which is good as it gives us more room at the front at the van to work on those problems! Uncovered a new problem today....

Not sure when the dry caravan party will be at this point, though my Dad did say that he doesn't fancy spending summer in the caravan next year as he seems to be spending the winter in it!

Keep in touch,

Louise

Tell your dad he's learning a whole new set of skills and that the summer might not be much different weather-wise to the winter so he probably won't miss much ha ha.  Keep plugging away.  Sorry to hear you've discovered another problem.  We were really hoping you were reaching the end.  Good luck - will keep in touch.  N

Murano, it looks a hell of lot worse than it is. I know because I'm in the throes of the same thing. Just support hubby like my wife does and all will be well before you know it. I have the occasional tizzy, a sort of "oh my God, how the hell do I fix this???" and the wife just stays calm and says, "you have fixed worse stuff before, stay calm and you will get your usual solutions to fix problems" She is right, but I like her support. Makes me feel more confident.

Murano is my favourite glass, yours too?

Murano - stuartggray is spot on.  It always looks and feels worse to start with.  Me and my husband did our van as a project together, which was surprisingly not the stuff of nightmares you'd think.  And it's always useful having another set of hands on the job.  Let us know how you get on. Natalie

Well since this happened my laptop died so i havnt been able to report how we are getting on,i dont know which was worse damp van or no internet LOL.We are cracking on,and everyone is right there is nothing that cannot be fixed with a bit of time and patience,im gald to report Biba (the van) is on the mend, she is boarded out and papered,we are lucky we have been able to keep her under cover and work on her, most of the cupboards are back in,ive made a whole new set of curtains for her (suprised myself with my talent lol) she looks and smells like a new van,im chuffed to bits,we esp hubby has worked like a demon to get her fixed,he had two weeks holiday owing so took it and worked on the van.I reacon another two weeks and she will be finished.I had 100% faith in hubby as he is a talented DIYer but both of us did look pretty sick at the beginning, but we both kept each others spirits up i supplied him with sandwiches and kisses LOL and kept going. It's lovely to think we have now increased her lifespan as she could of ended up at the scrappers,I will take some photo's of her,i did have some more but when the hard drive failed on the comp we lost all the pictures i had took.

Never dispair if you find damp its not the end,how ever bad, with a bit of research patience time everything can be fixed, and i dont know what we would of done without the help and advice here and on wizards site.

Oh and yes Murano is my fave glass hence the name,i just cant stop buying it love it.
