Hi,
I have an ABI Ace caravan. Not sure of year but probably about 1995. When connected to towing vehicle all is OK for a while & then the 20A fuse blows in the car. Obviously short circuits can be hard to find.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there a junction box in the van somewhere.

I am trying to avoid bypassing any dodgy wires as it can be untidy. I have the basic wiring diagram in the owners manual.

sounds like a short to earth/neg side of battery.possibly a rear light fitting rusty or has water inside.check plug first.

Socket and plug wiring instruction 167
12N Normal Socket 12S Supplementary Socket
1) Left indicator 1) Reverse
2) Fog 2) Battery Charge **
3) Earth 3) Earth
4) Right indicator 4) Power feed
5) Right side light 5) Spare
6) Brake 6) Fridge **
7) Left side light 7) Earth for pin 6 (1998 on)
**NB It is essential that pin 6 is wired through a split relay from 1998 on!!

Most helpful. Rear lights have obviously been wet for a while as I had to clean moss from inside so that does seem the likely fault.

Good Afternoon, Michael.

Fault was a stray strand of wire in rear light. Result of a previous bodged repair I think. Corrosion looks pretty bad too. So just to reduce the risk of further problems I will be fitting new lights now.
