Hi,

Could anyone please advise on the H&C water pipe layout on a 1996 bailey pageant...I think I've got a bit of a disaster on my hands.

I've just bought my first caravan and used a delamination kit to cure a spongy floor in front of the door & kitchen sink. I drilled 6mm holes in a 100mm grid and checked the underside for gas pipes before drilling. The floor's now solid but I can't get the water to work from any tap. The pump works fine and I've followed the instructions for priming the pump. I've tried adjusting the pressure switch but all that happens is that the pump makes a different noise and I get an occasional trickle of water from the tap. The red & blue pipes don't go through the floor and must be laid within the plywood laminate. I suspect that I may have drilled and glued the waterpipes as the most direct route is across where I have drilled.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.....and yes, I know I'm a muppet

If that is the case then you could re-lay the pipes running them inside the bed bases and cupboards. All our pipes are like that anyway. Just cut them at floor level and join in new ones with the correct joints.

cut them off and run them on the underside insulated with thick foam insulation.

As the above posters say - just replace the pipes and run them under the floor.

No real harm done

Hi again,

Many thanks for the replys. I had hoped that the pipes were run around the sides of the van and that I'd missed something obvious as this is the first time we've tried the water (was demonstrated when I bought the van).

I'm going to have to feed it under the floor as the route has to include the bathroom/shower. I hadn't thought of insulation though, thanks.

Oh well....another job on the list.

This could help someone with a similar problem:

I found that the H&C pipes were T'd off in front of the heater and one branch goes to the washbasin via the toilet & wardrobe and from there to the shower. These couldn't have been affected by my drilling of the floor. The other branch does go in the floor across to the kitchen sink.

Connecting a hose pipe onto the caravan side of the pipework proved all the pipework OK. So I have a problem with either the pressure switch or pump. Water flows from the pump but when you put your finger over the pipe to increase the water pressure the pump noise changes and there is no pressure build up. I think I need a new pump.

Does anyone know if there is an uprated pump available that would give me increased water pressure/flow in the van? Would fitting an on board pump be a suitable upgrade?

It would be easiest just to replace the existing pump as going to an onboard one would probably mean changing the water uptake fitting on the side of the van, and a bit of rewiring.

Our previous van had a Carver submersible that delivered 9 litres per minute and that was fine. Some onboard pumps only deliver 7 litres, others are higher. And you will also find the noise more intrusive.

What make and model pump do you have? And have you tried adjusting the pressure switch? If it is set too low the flow will be feeble.

i have just fitted a new pump and its rubbish on pressure,fit the 921 for the best pressure.
