Hi,

We have a 2003 Elddis Firestorm with a rear bathroom that has a separate shower cubicle. It has side bunks and the Truma water heater is mounted under the bunk seat, backing on to the shower unit wall. When looking at the water heater I noticed a damp patch on the floor near the heater. I thought it was a heater connection but on closer inspection I think the damp is coming in from under the shower unit wall, so probably a loose connection or hairline crack in the tray (although none visible at the moment).

Does anyone have any advice with regard to fault finding this and, if it is the connections to the back of the shower taps or similar, how on earth you get them? Can you take the fibreglass shower wall panel and tray out?

All advice welcome.

Thanks, Keith

Hi Keith Last time I came across this problem it was coming from a weakened pipe joint due to freezing. A absolute pig of a job as I ended up taking half the bathroom apart, why they don't put inspection panels in the walls so you can get at pipe joints I'll never know.

The damp floor has gone soft in a patch about 1 square foot, near the shower wall - so I think it must be some sort of leak in the shower compartment (deep joy). I expect the floor under the shower tray is probably damp too - so needs sorting quickly.

Having rebuilt the front end of a damp Bailey a few years ago I am bracing myself for the job ahead - although I have no experience of get at the shower cubicle pipework and connection or getting the three sided plastic wall panel and tray out so the area can be dried and repaired.

Words of encouragements and advice welcome, particulalry if anyone has had to do this to an Elddis Firestorm before. K
