Hi All,

This is my first post but I have been hooked to the site for some time now. We got our first caravan last September, a 1988 swift challenger in brilliant condition. Used it 5-6 times last year and am now getting it ready for this year. Been in it this morning, hooked the electric up to garage, filled aqua roll to test all taps after the winter. All were working fine, water heater filling and getting hot with no leaks but the problem is the pump is running constantly. I assumed a tap must have been left open slighlty but all are definatley shut. Now, I have read elsewhere that if the battery is flat that cold be the cause and mine is flat. Do you think that could be the problem? or worse still any ideas on anything else??

Thank you ever so much

Lisa

possible microswitch on one of the taps is faulty/worn.

this would cause pump to run.

The microswitch is a tiny switch inside the tap. As you open tap the switch operates & turn on pump. To check if a microswitch is faulty, disconnect one of the wires from each tap in turn. If pump stops then you have your faulty micro switch.

The switches are about £4 but if the tap is old it might disintegrate as you attempt to dismantle it. Taps & microswitches are standard items you can buy from any caravan shop.

Hi I have the same problem exactly, ive been told it could also be either caused by an air lock in the system in which case you will need to drain down the water system and start again, or it could be due to the pressure switch, normally located next to the water heater and generally behind where the pump enters the caravan. It has a little cap on the top which needs adjusting either clockwise or anti clockwise until pump stops running.

Hope this helps Ian & Karen

Can you get at it from outside caravan if you remove upper fridge vent grille? If you can't reach round fridge you would have to remove fridge.

possibly just needs the pressure resetting, had trouble with mine for the first time.if your taps have no pressure switches then it will have a pressure valve that needs a reset.if you have the truma heater it will be at the front of it on the floor.if its the old type then its as picture below.picture from wizards site.....if you have no electric cables going to the taps then it is a pressure system.picture shows rear of the pump socket.
