yes, it is advised to buy-pass the hot water heater if you can but I have never had a problem. I leave in system for a couple hours then flush through several times with clean water.
We use Milton fluid and put the required amount into the water hog, top up with water and then run it through
Mind I do find that wine is best with a meal rather than the water from the tap, but that's just me

i use milton all the time to clean out the pipes and pump.leave only for one hour as stainless tanks of the heater do not like milton.do not forget your filler pipe.if you brew your own the bottle cleaner powder will work just as well.i know you have milton tablets but puriclean tablets are good too.

i just sterilise the aquaroll with milton tablets, as you get fresh water points close to the pitch I fill my kettle direct from there. usually 4 or 5 times a day with the amount of tea we drink. if cooking use water from the kettle so aquaroll water is only used for washing
