hi,
As it will not let me search at present , can someone advise on awning rail screws, have got some from local caravan supplies but when i took rail off today the screws are bigger
the ones i purchased are about 17mm but the ones taken out are 25mm, i know people get them from screwfix any idea on size and cat number as i can pick some up tomorrow.
also the rail insert strip is a sort of j shape all the ones on ebay are just rounded and ideas , will the rounded one fit.
Having used Screwfix a couple of times recently, I can't understand people's obsession with them - if you don't know what you want or want to match something they either don't know or can't help you. Most of the stuff I've priced there is more expensive than anywhere else as well!
The last screws I bought for the rails on my van I bought in a chandlers - yes I bought stainless (sea water grade, better quality than screwfix). I just asked them to match the size but make them a little longer, only cost just over a £1 for 200 I think possibly less.
The herzim strip that you took out was probably U shaped originally (rounded) I'm guessing that the bend part (the j) was on the bottom held to that shape by it's own weight while the top of it flattened out.
Bought some stainless steal screws from screwfix on Friday. 3.5x25mm the part number is 10249-11 £4.65 for 200. Which is a good price for stainless steal as for getting them for £1 that must have been a mistake as you cant even get standard srews for that, I know as I have a joinery background. I found a good shop in Glasgow for seals and they do delivery it is The Caravan Shop, just google it. They do mastic on the roll 19mm x 19m long for under £11.
