Hi,

Just returned from a weekend away, the first run out this year.

Have a problem with a few internal lights:

main one as you step in the van

awning light

shower light

above kitchen sink

All the others work fine, which leads me to think fuse as all the effected lights are all near together. They were working on day one when we had the whole van lit up, then next we noticed they had gone off. Tried the strip lights in working lights and they are all ok, the awning light has two small torch like bulbs which appear ok but not tested. The awning and first strip light are on a two way switch just inside the door.

Looked at all the suggested fuses in the fuse bank and checked them all and seem to be ok, and checked in other fuse ports.

Attempted to trace what I thought was the wiring hoping to find an in line fuse or similar but no luck, not even sure if it was the correct wiring and when it dissapeared behind fittings, thats where the search ended.

So, over to you, any ideas where I could further look or something else I may have missed?

Van is an Abbey County Oxford 1995

Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

Cheers, Rich

Hi Rich, not an electrition, but you may have faulty or broken earth wire on that circuit, had same problem on my van, checked mine by useing 12v bulb tester, screwdriver type with 12v bulb built in and lenth of wire attached, took bulb out of van light, switched on van light, made contact from power wire to earth wire via the tester, when that did not work, connected wire to a earth point, then to the circuit tester wire, then made contact with the other end of tested to the light power wire, and he presto test lamp lit, checked spade conectors on earth point, cleaned them, checked for broken earth wire, fond on that was very flexable cut and replaced it, all working again, hope this helps.

If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong

Hi John, thanks for the reply, come to think of it some of the terminals in the outside awning light are badly rusted, certainly a thing to try.

Will give it a go.

Thanks again, Rich

was going say to earth too.some times these lights are wired in line and one faulty light  could mae the others dim,its a question of finding the correct one.take care too as these lights are 12volts  but put out 130 VOLTS  by an inverter inside to work.can give a nasty belt if stick the screwdriver in the wrong place.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Thanks Michael, will take care with the screwdriver, sounds as if it could be the earth, fingers crossed it is.

Thanks again, Rich
