Why not fit the socket as a trailing lead by putting a double adapter in the fridge/microwave socket etc and have a surface socket to match the van on the other end

That way its just an extension

You should use 3 core flexible cable as installed in the van 

I always use that method when fitting an external 230V socket usually using a lead saved from an old appliance with 3 core cable such as a washing macnine etc

I spoke to Bailey in Bristol today. It would appear as long as I can get an electrician to issue a certificate, I dont have to get the additional sockets fitted at a bailey dealers. I believe the certificate is an expensive item, so I will get a quote and report back

Not if as in my original post you put a double adapter in the existing Fridge/microwave socket before plugging in the extension which can then have its outlet where you want it rather than in a cupboard as the fridge and microwave ones are

If using an adaptor like the one above, always go for a good quality one.
