Hi I went out towing my little Kip caravan yesterday (very easy, Im delighted to say). However when I came back the fridge had moved out of its place. I had anticipated this and put a block of wood twixt that and the shelf, but it wasn't a tight fit.

The mobile chap who came to fit the fridge amongst other things should have made it secure, shouldn't he? It's been gassed in with rigid copper pipe and if it moves about too much, the gas pipe will fracture. Should I get him back out to fix it properly or should I have said I need it to be fixed at the time?

Thanks for any replies.

Hi if the fridge is a Thetford it is held in by 4 screws and Thetford insist that the fridge should be totally sealed to prevent exhaust gases entering the interior of the caravan/motorhome. This is due to the exhaust method they use which unlike Dometic fridges does not vent directly out to the outside atmosphere.

The fridge is electrolux/dometic and has the exhaust vent. But the chap did say if he came back to sort out the gas side (it won't run on gas at the mo, just electric) then it would need to be boxed in - not actually totally sealed, but boxed in re the fumes on gas. He said it wasn't necessary when running on electric, so he left it open at one side. This fridge has been fitted into a cupboard under the sink as the caravan didn't originally have a fridge.

The fridge should be secure & if you want to run it on gas it needs a vent tube to the outside. If your man is professional installer he should know the regs & have done a proper job first off. The way you describe it your man sounds a tw*t.

LOL Tentz! Yes it has a vent tube and a ruddy great big vent to the outside as well, bit overkill I thought, but there you go (at present, I have the winter cover on that). To be fair, he did try to box it in, but it was difficult 'having no spare wood to work with'. Conclude from that what you will. Don't really want to call him back out as I would rather not have any more to do with him (conclude as above)... so I'll just go cut a bigger bit of wood, methinks!
