We have had a faulty catch on our largest blind in the front window and consequently have a tear abour 2 inches in from the end of the blind. We have tried to "mend" it ourselves but have had no luck and have now removed the blind with the plan to get it repaired professionally. Although the one place I have contacted does not repair blinds, I do have a few more places to try come Monday morning. However I was looking on ebay and there seems to be an abundance of blinds on sale but I wasn't sure if we had a Seitz blind or Remis. In true ebay style, the pictures are exactly the same! We have a Swift Charisma 535 2006 model. If I can establish the price of a new blind I can decide if it is financially viable to repair the old one. Can anyone tell me the difference between Seitz and Remis?
I had a little trick that I did to repair a blind a couple of years ago....
When the blind is pulled fully down there is usually about 6" or so left on the roller at the top, I took the blind apart, taped the tear, and reassembled it with the repair at the top. Once it was back up, the repair is on the roller out of sight even when the blind is down.
It is easy to fix but only if the damage is near the end!
The tear is right at the end but the task seems quite daunting. If it's really as easy as you say I suppose we have nothing to lose by trying it. The blind seems to have a mind of it's own when we're pulling it out - I think that's why we got in this position in the first place. Thanks for your suggestion - we will definately have a look at that.
