Hi

I am have major problems with my water heater. It was working fine until the last weekend away of 2009. When we used the heater it wasnt heatin the water. i drained the system for the winter an intented to try and sort it over the winter but never got a chance. We were away for Easter and thought i would try it out again to see if it was working only to find that no water at all comes through the hot tap!!. Water in entering the heater but not coming out! Checked the drain plug  to see if water was entering the heater and it is. Anyone got any ideas what the problem may be ?

sounds like a faulty non return valve. get a few this time of year as the cold weather freezes them up and pushes them up or down the pipe.the non return valve is on the cold inlet to the heater.its easy to tell if it is faulty on the non return valve if you have a carver two.fill up fully as normal.set pump up to run as normal, just like you would setting up on site.remove the drain plug from the carver heater and get someone to switch on the pump at the main switch to start the pump running for a few seconds say 30 seconds.if the non return is faulty or blocked the water will leave the drain very slowly.if the non return valve is ok water will gush out of the drain.

Carver Cascade 2 water inlet

Carver Cascade 2 water inlet fitting, with non return valve. This fitting is situated at the bottom of the main body of the heater.

Hi

Thanks for the comments. When i had filled the heater as normal and removed the drain plug the water was under some pressure for a sec or two then began to empty as normal. I tried removing the hot water pipe from the outlet on the heater and switched the pump on but on water leaving the heater

with the drain plug removed and the pump on the water should be gushing full time as its going straight through the boiler and out again.if stuck talk to barry.possibly partially blocked on the non return valve.ie a grain of carbon from a filter.
