Hi

Where is the best and cheapest place to get hold of a 230v fridge element for an Electrolux RM212 fridge ?

Cheapest I have seen in on thr Auction site for £29.90

I plan on replacing it myself next weekend, is there anything to watch out for when doing it ?

Thanks

Tony

You may find an 125w 64xx series element cheaper, these have longer connection tail leads than others so fits almost if not all models.

At worst, all you have to do is cut the leads to the required length and add back the spade terminals using a proper crimping tool.

I have got a rm212F which works on gas but not on mains, (I have not got a 12V source)The mains reads OK on the element side of the thermostat. What should the resistance reading be across the element, I assume that the two brown leads coming off the back of the thermostat go directly to the element so if they read open circuit the probability is that I need a new element. Will I need anything apart from the usual screwdrivers spanners to do the job?

Depends on the wattage of the element most common element is 125w and that should be 470 ohms give or take.
Some 212's used a lower wattage so in all cases;

Divide stated wattage by stated voltage, then use answer to divide voltage, ie,

240v/125w = 0.520 amps

240v/0.520a = 461 ohms resistance reading on the multimeter.

Their not made to exactly so fully expect 10 ohms either side of calculated.
