can anyone help how to repair wheel arch on a rallye compass gt 5berth do you no where you can buy arch ?? smashed up due to puncture thanks in advance for any help
Have you managed to source a wheel arch? or are you going to rebuild?
I've never done it so I have no pictures to help but:
The van we have now at some stage has had a blow out which destroyed half the wheel arch (twin axle) it was repaired from the outside using a cut up plastic barrel/drum.
If you are going to fit a proper arch then your best bet is to remove the furniture around it to be able to access it easier.
Use Sikaflex 512 along the edges to seal and fix it and any screws that you may be able to get in. The original arch would have been bonded in to the floor - something that you are not going to be able to do. You may have to fit new battens into the wall or floor for fixings (you can obtain 'stripwood' for this from B&Q etc. which is available in 21mm and 25 mm thicknesses) and fit as per the damp repair instructions.
Once you have it in dry fit the furniture to make sure that it will still fit around the wheel arch, trim if required then fix.
------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
I have done the entire internal wheel arch on my old compass rallye last year after a bad blowout.
Never did the external arch as it was not damaged.
If this is what you mean I can help.
What i did was remove the entire internal arch/pieces of arch (it scres on entirely from the underside) heat the old bits of the wheel arch up with a heat gun and bend them back into shape (it was ripped into 2 pieces and badly mangled).
This way i could offer the pieces together but it still had holes etc in it.
Next buy a sheet of HDPE here: http://www.directplasticsonline.co.uk/HDPESheet/Black/2mm/
I used this to "skin" the old wheel arch from the inside.
Cut a piece that will bend around the internal arch then overlap about 30mm on either side 9just like the original.
Use sikaflex or equivalent sealant around the edges of the newly cut piece.
Starting at one end drill and rivet the new sheet onto the old wheel arch in say 150mm spacing until you get right to the other end (hot air gun can be used to bend the overhangs at each end).
Repeat the same procedure for the vertical back wall and then seal the joint between the back wall and the arch.
Essentially you are using what’s left of your old wheel arch as a permanent template for the newly fabricated one.
Done correctly it will look as good as new.
I do have some photos somewhere and will try and find them.
