Do i need to disconnect battery when not in use for a few weeks.

Probably a good idea. This way you have isolated it from any possibility of gradual 'leakage'.

Depends on how many weeks constitutes '...a few..'. Might also be a good idea to put a charger across it for 24 hours every 4 weeks.

I always leave mine in and plug in the EHU at home. Keeps it topped up.

Hi David,
if its just a few weeks, then should be ok left on the van, as it should be a leisure battery, which will charge back up from near on empty where as a car battery will not if it goes below about 8-9Volts, and you will charged it back up when you go away on your hols. If you are leaving it longer or over the winter months then i would remove it and store in the garage in a box to stop the cold getting to it. As the cold is one of the biggest killers of battery's

I have left mine in the caravan on ehu on the drive for the past 4 years and it isn't killed yet.

thats good Steve,
but most car & caravan battery's are replaced in and after the months of winter.
Also the older your batter becomes the more the cold will affect it

My van is in storage, a long way from any EHU. Every time I leave it I disconnect the positive lead to stop any slight drain on the battery.

If its going to be anymore than about a month I take the battery home and put it on trickle charge.
