We had this problem with our '92 Cyclone.  Our solution was to cut some carpet offcuts to shape (3 pieces), get the edges bound and lay these over the fitted carpet, held in place with press studs.  Binding cost around £25.

There are plenty of screws already in your floor so a few more will not matter.

The screw with plate are around an inch long and usually made of aluminium so they don't rust so i would put some shorter ones in if you can, don't worry too much the ply is quite thick,but don't buy any with bigger heads as it won't be nice for bare feet.

I am a carpet fitter and done many caravans including my own a couple of months ago changing the carpet for vinyl and just a loose runner down the middle for winter

Well done looks a good job,yes there are quite a few different strips available in various finishes.

Took me longer to get the old carpet up than fit the new vinyl as it was fastened down with hundreds of small staples that are put in with an air gun.My Avondale has a well in the floor for the spare wheel and they got really carried away fastening the carpet down the edges,its a wonder there was any wood left.

Worth it in the end as we have a big hairy dog and its much easier to keep clean.
