We have an old awning which I think was the original one with the caravan. It has started to rot in a couple of places but is generally in good condition. I'd quite like to get the rot patches sorted before it spreads.
Can anyone recommend anywhere who would be able to do the repairs (we're in Cornwall), or have any tips on how to do them ourselves or does anyone know of any where I could get a second hand awning to fit our (quite elderly!) caravan replace the existing one?
HI angie , If its started to rot , Its probably not worth having it repaired . Repairs are not cheap , a secondhand awning might work out cheaper than repairing an old rotten one.
You need to measure the awning rail to find out what size awning you need to buy. see here
Or the size may be on the label of your awning .
When you have this measurement. look at awning sizes that your measurement would fall into . EG if your measured 864cm, you'd need an awning with the nearest measurement to that size.
Mine is 892cm so i need a 900cm awning.
Sizes vary between manufacturers, so look at their websites to check your measurement on their size charts .
There are hundereds on ebay , but your local freeads may be a good place to start, at least if its local you can try the awning on the caravan for size before you buy .
like Debbis said,
Prob no point if its starting to rot, but there are repairers like this one www.canvasrepaircentre.co.uk they are very good and cheap.
Also just up the M5 is Davans at Weston-Super- Mare they are very cheap for awnings and they do what they call second hand new ones, ie they take awnings to shows but never remove them from the packing. So its still new. check them on the web or phone them
