Hi ephalump, sorry to see your giving up on repair, think if I had spent that much on van,I would spend onother few hondred to fix it,My first van same as yours, there was not one complete leanth of wood from top to bottom or running the lenth of van, only thing solid was chassis, cupbourds, glass windows slated kind, curved front window, and inner wheel arch covers, only way I could tell the lenths of strapping was by the marks left by the rotted wood on the aluminum, and it had a boat shape roof into the bargan, totaly rebuilt it from chassis up,including the floor, made side frames, front and rear frames all stored in shed in bits till roof and floor made, got some very thin hardboard to make inner walls, glued then to all the frames, them assembled onto van chassis, covered van till all work done, six months working on own.van cost £280,and £100 to rebuild, but is was well worth all the time and money spent on it,the satisfaction wasgreat knowin that I did that. so if you decide not to take it for scrap, and do the job your self you will be well rewarded, any way good luck in what ever you decide.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
John
